Leisure time brings out new ideas and innovations. History being one of the witnesses

Ha! Funny,

Our Education system does not allow leisure time. You just jump from one level to another, hoping the next year will be better, you will have time to improve your skills.

But surprise! We all just never stop running in this never ending race. Gradually becoming a machine who meticulously does what task it is given. But not what we are intrigued by.

Yes people say that, you need to make time instead of making excuses. But what if we are not even taught how to make time for new ideas to flow?

A simple question to everyone. If you get admission in colleges by academic score or by sports quota, why is there no existence of something called dance quota, music quota or say cooking quota?

Why is art not given proportionate weightage? Or for that matter why is good score in academics given so much of attention?

If Academics is so important for one to succeed in life, than why most success stories are owned by dropouts?

It is said that Finland has the best education system in the world. And guess what? They do not have exams! No homework! And unlike most countries they concentrate on developing skills like plumbing, cooking etc.

No doubt the students there learn to live, instead of learning how to score.

Its not entirely the fault of the systems but also of the belief that is imbibed in students that only if they score good in their daily academics provided by school, they’ll become something in life.

This belief needs to be broken! Because education is not only about studying in institutions. Thats only a single colour of the rainbow. Meeting people of alike interest and having conversations with them is also one form.

Successful dropouts may have not taken formal education but they might have tasted the other six colours of the rainbow.

And only we- the people can change the belief because institutions are built by people and systems are developed by institutions. It will take time to change, but the first step needs to be taken. We need to change the idea of education.

Idea should be to,teach how to be

Brave not perfect. Determined not competitive. See opportunities not failures and pushing oneself enough to let the ideas come, because they are just around you, the only thing required is to open your eyes and see.
