Hustle – I have never used this word in my everyday vocabulary, but I am not going to deny, I did take pride in working constantly. Being continually productive was the only way to achieve more is what I believed, until lack of rest got the better of me.
Hustle culture has been celebrated by so many successful people that we all have started believing that being “busy” is how we can achieve big things. Along with the glorification of hustle culture, the meaning of relaxing suddenly changed to wasting time.
We all have grown to hate Mondays and hiding our tiredness behind self-deprecating humor. And if you do it otherwise you will be termed as not being loyal to your generation. But the tragedy is – no one even likes the “hustle-culture” and creativity in people is slowly fading, let alone growing spiritually.
I am not saying that one should not be determined, ambitious, or resilient towards their goals. These all are very much the main ingredients to achieve anything, but when being productive is misunderstood as working constantly, not resting, or not being idle, that’s where we all falter!
When this happens – we all are celebrating “damaging hustle.”
Hustle-culture has become “the trend” and I cannot wait when all give up this trend and adopt healthy balanced lifestyles –
which is made of
1) equal amounts of work and rest
2) giving proportionate amount of time to hobbies and earning money
3) Being productive and not just ticking things off the to-do lists
4) Sitting idle with your thoughts
5) Exploring what makes you happy and what kind of life you want to lead
It is time to come together to change the narrative!
